PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE

MEETING MINUTES – SEPTEMBER 4, 2025

 Attendance:  Mr. Bernheimer, Mr. Landwehr, Mayor Markgraf, Public Works Director Mr. Greer, City Engineer Mr. Hellman, Verdantas. Andrew Walsh, Verdantes. Ms. Thamann was absent.

Audience:  No one present

The meeting was called to order and minutes of the August 7, 2025 meeting were approved.

City Engineer Martin Hellmann updated the committee concerning the sidewalk assessment project. The restoration work will be done shortly.

OKI and State approvals were obtained for the Crestview Hills sidewalk project; planning will continue with construction next spring.

No significant updates were available for the Bellemonte resurfacing & curb project. The city will reapply for a grant for the current grant year by the October 1 deadline.

Humphrey Concrete appears to have completed its work under the 2025-26 Street Program on Shaker and Marlo Way. Only minor points on a project checklist remain; retainer to be reduced accordingly.

The city has engaged InfraHub for its video street & sign assessment project with other cities to facilitate the updated 5 Year Road Plan. It includes approximately 8 miles of roadway at a 2-year cost of approximately $785.00. No online information has been posted yet.

Riegler Blacktopping was the only and lowest bid under the RFP for the annual crack sealing project including resealing and striping the city parking lot. Council is expected to approve the bid on September 8, 2025.

Mr. Greer updated the committee that the speed radar sign is relocated on Marian Drive near the church’s daycare center. He has received positive feedback from local residents. He also updated the committee concerning a proposal for honeysuckle and bush cutting on the landbridge area of West Lakeside and Gilmore. He recommends Precise to perform the work after meeting with several companies. Work will commence this fall.

Regarding the Dixie Highway bench project, the benches will cost $1,596.00 and plaques will cost

$395.00. The benches would be ordered this year, but need to be stored until installation next spring. The committee considered a sponsorship should approximate $750-$1,000, but no firm decision was made.

Mr. Greer updated the committee that the security upgrades, including additional cameras, will be performed during the week of October 8, depending on Aylor Security’s availability.
