PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE

MEETING MINUTES – MAY 1, 2025

Attendance:  Mr. Bernheimer, Ms. Thaman, Mr. Landwehr, Mayor Markgraf, Public Works Director Mr. Greer, City Engineer Mr. Hellman, Andrew Walsh, Verdantes.

Audience:  No one present

The meeting was called to order and minutes of the April 3, 2025 meeting were approved with one minor amendment.

City Engineer Martin Hellmann updated the committee concerning the sidewalk assessment project. A letter was sent to all residents affected by the sidewalk issue with an estimate of resident cost and a prepaid post card for acceptance/rejection of the use of the city contractors. Postcards are being returned to the city. A neighborhood meeting will be held immediately following the Committee Meeting for residents of Geisen, Applewood/ Ashbrook, Farmington and East Lakeside. A meeting will be held on May 8 for residents of Bellemonte, Arcadia and Colony North. Precision Concrete Cutting will begin work approximately May 12 and TMS Construction will begin approximately two (2) weeks later.

Mr. Greer reported that the arborist removed the tree on Colony North, has injected the trees requiring root trimming with nutrients and will begin root grinding prior to Precision commencing work. Mr.

Hellings will execute a waiver in favor of the city to keep his tree for sentimental reasons.

No significant updates were available for the Crestview Hills sidewalk project; construction may begin later this summer.

No significant updates were available for the Bellemonte resurfacing & curb project. It will be included in the updated 5 year plan.

No updates were discussed for the Dixie Highway bench project or crosswalk improvements.

A preliminary construction meeting is set with Humphrey Concrete for the 2025-26 Street Program on May 13, 2025 with construction estimated to begin in late June or early July.

The repair of the Williams Avenue drain trench was completed by TMS Construction through a change order to the sidewalk contract in the amount of $8,950.00.

Mr. Greer updated the committee that the dog fountain at Memorial Park is now operational and the city-maintained flower beds at the city building, top of Farmington and Applewood would be prepared and mulched by Memorial Day. The city flags will be also be reinstalled by Memorial Day. He continues to clean the catch basins and drains as needed. He will also begin to spray weeds along city streets shortly.
